Our friend Erin went out of town and lent us her car (it's a BMW M3 convertible; no big deal...) so we decided to take our very first road trip! The destination wasn't all that glamorous, but we decided that since we had wheels for the weekend we should take advantage of it. Chièvres air force base is a short hour drive south of Brussels, about 6 miles from the French border. The word on the street was that they had a little PX and a commissary, so we headed south to check it out. Armed with sunglasses, our camera and Erin's TomTom GPS we hit the streets and after a scenic, but thankfully uneventful trip we enjoyed a thin slice of the ol' US of A right here in Belgium! The PX was small, but complete, and we even indulged in some Burger King while we were there (we both felt a little guilty for being so incredibly and thoroughly American). On the way back we stopped and took a few pictures at a beautiful old mansion where they were having a Rotary Club party (look Wendy, Rotary in Belgium!).
